Position Summary PURPOSE: Under the direction of a qualified physician, performs interventional, angiography, and general radiographic examinations and/or fluoroscopic exams for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician Knowledge The Special Procedure Technologist should have general knowledge of Radiology computer systems. He/she must know the anatomy, physiology, and X-ray positioning required for each special procedure ordered by the physician. It is essential that he/she be familiar with all of the different types of instruments used routinely in Special Procedures, as well as, how to operate S.P. equipment. The Special Procedure Technologist must be knowledgeable of all types of x-ray procedures, and the appropriate contrast media to use on each exam requiring the aforementioned. He/she must know how to care for the sick and injured patients while they are in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Skills Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job are the ability to provide excellent customer service; demonstrate good interpersonal skills; demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to utilize IDXRad, PACS, SCVIR, QI and Inventory systems; utilize basic office equipment; be a team player and be knowledgeable with Process Improvements; maintain confidentiality. Formal Education and Experience The formal education normally associated with a completely satisfactory performance in this job is successful completion of a formal two-year training in a school of radiologic technology approved by the Joint Review Committee for Education in the Radiological Technology (JRCERT) of the American Medical Association. Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and certified by the Texas Department of Health/Bureau of Radiation Control (CMRT). A minimum of one year of radiographer experience is required.

The Radiographer under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor, performs a variety of technical radiographic, and mammographic procedures; applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Responsible for designated areas or procedures, as required. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient and adapt their care to the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs. Fosters patient and family centered care and radiologic services in accordance with the Lifespan and The Miriam Hospitals mission, vision, values, with consideration of the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.Formal training in a school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Must be ARRT Registered Radiographer and current license to work in the State of Rhode Island. Ability to consistently meet the following job accountabilities: critical thinking, interpersonal skills, team membership, customer focus, initiative and reliability.Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.Successful completion of clinical experience required for certification.Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, physicians and staff of all levels and display empathy towards all patients.

Qualifications: Associate of Arts or Science degree in Radiologic Technology Diagnostic Ultrasound from an AMA approved school or equivalent clinical experience. Certification as Radiologic Technologist (CRT), Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required. Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant clinical experience as a staff Technologist in an acute care hospital; previous experience supervising and/or reviewing the clinical work performed by D.I. Technologists. Demonstrated ability to utilize communication, inter personal, labor relations and work planning skills. Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable local, state and federal regulatory and radiation safety standards and requirements.Preferred Qualifications: CPR certification. Experience in all forms of Diagnostic Radiology.Duties: Develops and implement daily/monthly working schedules and fill in replacements as needed. Review, edit and approve timecards. Monitor attendance program and issue appropriate counseling. Assist the Director and Assistant Directors on projects. Supervises radiology staff and outlying clinics. Coordinates the daily workflow for the radiology team. Evaluates departmental functions, provides efficient analysis and training as necessary to ensure quality completion of work.
