Liaises with external agencies in the care of clients throughout the healthcare continuum, attends clinical/case conferences or interdisciplinary rounds, provides formal and information consultation to team member and other healthcare facilities, participates in research, evaluates effectiveness and appropriateness of treatment and resources, and maintains electronic and paper client records.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Graduate of a Doctoral level program in Clinical Psychology approved by the Canadian/American Psychology Association, supplemented with one (1) year of psychiatric experience and sound knowledge and experience working with adolescents.Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.Knowledge & AbilitiesKnowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.Comprehensive knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic and consultation techniques appropriate to children and youth.Comprehensive knowledge of psychological assessment and treatment methods and tools.Comprehensive knowledge of psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects).Broad knowledge of psychosocial issues and factors associated with children and youth including caregiver issues and family dynamics.Broad knowledge of the normal growth and development of children and youth.Broad knowledge of community resources other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Broad knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.Broad knowledge of evidence-based psychological practice.Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, leader and facilitator.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with children and youth, and their families, educational personnel, service providers, colleagues, physician, and other health care staff, both one-on-one and in groups.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise.Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve, and effectively deal with conflict situations..Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client care information system and word processing, spreadsheet, Internet and e-mail software.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
