Borgess Medical Center, located in Kalamazoo, MI., currently has excellent opportunity for a Temporary Full time and a Regular Full Time Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist.
The position works four 10 hr. shift and five 8 hr. shift per week with rotating call, weekends and holidaysUnder general supervision and following established policies and procedures, performs and records cardiac ultrasound diagnostic tests to produce high quality, non-invasive diagnostic images of the cardiac anatomy, function and hemodynamic process. These images include the cardiac muscle valves and great vessels as well as Doppler studies indicating blood flow status. Borgess Medical Center offers the most comprehensive cardiovascular medicine program in southwest Michigan and recognized for Cardiac Center of Excellence. Additionally, there are two operating rooms dedicated to cardiovascular surgery making Borgess one of the largest open-heart surgery programs in the Midwest. Requirements:Two years of college education in medical sciences required. License/Certification Required 3-6 months on-the-job experience required.Preferably, within one year of hire date completes registry exam for Cardiac Sonography. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to explain procedures to patients and allay apprehensions, and to discuss test results with physicians. Analytical skills necessary to effectively detect pathologies based on knowledge of physiological cause and effect of diseases. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when performing ultrasound procedures, entering data into computer, and reviewing patients charts. Must be able to push and pull equipment as well as position patients and stand and walk for long periods of time.
