New Hanover Regional Medical Center seeks to hire a Psychiatric-Mental Health PA to provide services within the medical center and the Behavioral Health Hospital, The Oaks. A 62-bed psychiatric hospital on the New Hanover Regional Medical Center campus, The Oaks provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric programs for adults. The Oaks staff is specially trained to evaluate and treat patients for depressions, adjustment disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychotic and personality disorders. Inpatient units include: Dual-Diagnosis Unit, Behavioral Medicine Unit and Progressive Treatment Unit. Functional responsibility to assess, diagnoses, plan implement, intervene, manage and evaluate holistic plans of care for mental health patients. These plans may include treatment with psychotropic medication, individual, group and family psychotherapy, crisis intervention, consultation and case management. The provider will work collaboratively with licensed psychiatrists and other mental healthcare providers to deliver quality mental health care to those in need of psychiatric care. Team consists of four physicians and a mid-level provider. Schedule is second shift, typically 2 pm to midnight. Call is 1 in 4. Ideal candidates must have a strong work ethic, good interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to excellent patient care and a team-oriented attitude. Bachelor of Science degree req. Complete assessments required to get individuals into waiver funded services and maintain people in the community, rather than in institutions or nursing homes. Assure compliance with waiver manual and Olmstead Act. Assists in meeting DHS/DBHDDs WIG of keeping individuals out of hospitals (to reduce incidents within hospitals) by providing technical assistance to families and providers. Serve as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team for recipients of developmental disability services, providing psychosocial services, including evaluation, eligibility determination and technical consultation/assistance. The social worker may provide leadership to the interdisciplinary team that provides intake and evaluation services for the region. Conducts interviews with consumers and family members, legal guardians and caregivers. Social work and other functional assessment instruments are administered to make eligibility determinations and develop service plan recommendations. Assessment findings, written by the social worker, are reported in required documentation for the individuals record. Assessments are reviewed with team members as part of the interdisciplinary planning program. Qualification:Masters degree from an accredited program And Licensure in the area of assignment And Two years of related post-license experience OR Masters degree from an accredited program And License in the area of assignment AND Two years of experience at the lower level (Social Service Provider) Preferred Qualifications:Current LMSW license. Two years of experience providing therapeutic counseling, case management and coordination services, and assessments for court depositions, legal proceedings, and/or eligibility determinations. One year of experience in human services setting, requiring use of clinical assessments, client interviewing, and/or written reports of assessment findings. Experience in the field of mental retardation and developmental disabilities highly desirable. Computer experience that includes Microsoft Word, Excel and E-Mail. Salary:$32,418.30 - $56,724.24
