In addition to successfully integrating this digital technology into our screening process, we will soon be able to offer Cervista HPV testing through our Molecular Pathology department which will allow us to utilize the latest technology available. We also screen non-gynecologic samples that can include Cellient prepared cell blocks and perform adequacy checks on FNA samples collected at the Intermountain Medical Center. On a regular basis, we meet with the Cytopathology Medical Director and discuss interesting and educational cases at our multi-headed microscope in the Cytopathology Education Center. Cytotechnologists perform highly complex testing procedures required for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and evaluate specimens for referral to a pathologist. Must be highly detail oriented with excellent diagnostic skills. We are looking for an individual who has the capability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with all members of the Cytopathology team.Minimum Requirements:- Must be ASCP certified as a Cytologist or registry eligible- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills- Two years of Cytotechnologist experiencePreferred Qualifications:- Candidates with ThinPrep certification with imager training preferred - Experience with Fine Needle Aspirations preferred

The Lab Medicine Department is seeking a full-time Laboratory Scientist with an expertise in Flow Cytometry to join its team.

This individual would assist in overseeing all of the immunology and oncology testing for the department and be charged with the development of new testing procedures. In addition, there would be oversight of 3 staff Technologists.Flow Cytometers are BD FACSCanto and documentation is on the Cerner Millenium LIS platform. The Laboratory Scientist reports to 2 Medical Directors and the Manager of the Core Laboratories.Current certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP, NCA, AAM and/or HEW), Bachelor´s Degree and a minimum of 7 years experience required.The selected candidate will work a day shift Monday through Friday with a rotated weekend and weekend on-call. * Department: Lab Medicine-Immunology * Status: Full Time - 40 Hours * Shift: Day * Schedule (i.e. Mon. - Fri.): Monday - Friday, W/E and holiday call * Standard Hours per Week: 40.00

These functions are performed in accordance all applicable laws and regulations and with Georgetown University Hospital’s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: Graduate from accredited school of cytotechnology, CT certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathology or equivalent.Required Experience: Three years cytotechnology experience inclusive of college training. High degree of technical competence and cytological knowledge in order to prepare and examine all cytologic specimens. Ability to react and work under stress and to be quick and accurate. Mature, responsible individual who is self-directed, able to interact with all levels of staff, handle multiple projects with multiple deadlines and adaptable to change.
