Respiratory Care Coord (Bilingual) Opportunity!

Qualifications: Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level II required. Bachelors degree in Respiratory Care, Health Care Administration, related field or equivalent experience required. (R.D. required if Cystic Fibrosis Coordinator.) Current and valid California license of respiratory care and National board of registered respiratory therapist certificate required. BCLS certification or BCLS teaching certification required. Training in pulmonary functions, sleep disorders and asthma education.Respiratory care experience in an acute clinical setting (usually 5+ yrs). Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations. Recent experience facilitating performance improvement projects and experience planning, coordinating and implement programs preferred. Recent experience in patient education in respiratory disease and sleep disorders preferred. Computer skills and experience with nasal CPAP and BIPAP equipment required. Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to customers, contracted providers, and vendors.Preferred Qualifications: Graduate of two (2) years AMA school or registry eligible.Duties: Develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates an education program for patient´s pulmonary rehabilitation (COPD), asthma, and sleep disorders. Coordinates patients´ Plans of Care incompliance with regional best practice guidelines and in conjunction with multi disciplinary care team, including an Asthma Action Plan and Asthma Management Plan. Assesses status and compliance with Plans of Care for all patients with a diagnosis of Asthma after hospitalizations, HOPS stays or emergency room visits. Coordinates outpatient pulmonary function screening. Coordinates outpatient clinic follow up program for patients with Asthma/COPD and sleep disorder to include phone communication, one on one and group management. Provides in hospital respiratory consulting to recommend an education plan prior to discharge of a patient to home health, nursing home or the outpatient environment. Acts as a resource to the health care team regarding patient education, occurrence reporting and quality assessment. Coordinates a respiratory education program for the public schools and the community promoting continuity, developing awareness and direction especially for those at risk for increased pulmonary related illnesses. Must possess current certifications, license and registration for the State of Michigan and current registry by the NBRC. Demonstrated talent in problem solving; planning and setting priorities, and addressing complex issues for to achieve department expectations. Respiratory Therapists with an identified plan to complete a Baccalaureate degree in a reasonable timeframe will be considered. Three years of respiratory therapy experience required. Recent acute care pediatric experience preferred. Management, supervisory, and/or leadership experience preferred. Current State of Connecticut Respiratory Therapist licensure required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required within 6 months from date of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months from date of hire; and NRP certification required within 6 months from date of hire.

Reporting to the Department Director this position will provide clinical management to the staff and will also be responsible for educating and coordinating ongoing instruction to the department staff. The manager will be responsible for oversight of the indicated areas to ensure diagnostic services are provided to the inpatient and outpatient population.. This position will work primarily during the daytime shift and will also be a visible presence to the evening and night shift staff consistently each month. Additionally, the Clinical Manager will work to maintain a productive working relationship with physicians, promote employee engagement with all associates, and demonstrate superior customer service. Three years of management/supervisory experience in Respiratory Care. Able to work off-shift hours consistently each month (approx. six shifts/month.) Ability to address administrative and/or clinical issues through demonstrated use of independent judgment. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with the wide range of individuals/departments/task forces/teams one must work with to achieve positive outcomes.

Benedictine Hospital currently has an opening for a self-motivated RRT to act as the Clinical Manager for our four-bed Sleep Center.
