Primary Purpose: Performs a variety of diagnostic radiography imaging procedures to provide data for diagnosis of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work activities are performed in an environmentally controlled hospital setting subject to extended periods of walking and standing. Work activities involve potentially frequent exposure to hazardous materials, a variety of toxic or caustic chemicals, radiopharmaceuticals, and risk of radiation exposure. Activities also include, but are not limited to, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, occasionally pushing and/or pulling equipment up to 100 pounds, and regularly lifting equipment and/or supplies up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to lift and position infant, toddler, school age, adolescent, and adult patients in the delivery of therapeutic care. Regularly required to use fine motor skills to manipulate and/or maintain equipment and perform procedures. Requires visual acuity, including normal color vision, and manual dexterity to use desktop computer equipment, telecommunications equipment, analytical instruments, and other equipment. Must communicate clearly in English. Requires the ability to speak, write, see, and hear to perform essential duties of the job. Requires effective and positive human relations skills, including confidentiality, in order to appropriately interface with all levels of Phoenix Children´s Hospital staff, physicians, patients and their families, and other contacts. Position Summary PURPOSE: Under the direction of a qualified physician, performs interventional, angiography, and general radiographic examinations and/or fluoroscopic exams for subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician Knowledge The Special Procedure Technologist should have general knowledge of Radiology computer systems. He/she must know the anatomy, physiology, and X-ray positioning required for each special procedure ordered by the physician. It is essential that he/she be familiar with all of the different types of instruments used routinely in Special Procedures, as well as, how to operate S.P. equipment. The Special Procedure Technologist must be knowledgeable of all types of x-ray procedures, and the appropriate contrast media to use on each exam requiring the aforementioned. He/she must know how to care for the sick and injured patients while they are in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Skills Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job are the ability to provide excellent customer service; demonstrate good interpersonal skills; demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to utilize IDXRad, PACS, SCVIR, QI and Inventory systems; utilize basic office equipment; be a team player and be knowledgeable with Process Improvements; maintain confidentiality. Formal Education and Experience The formal education normally associated with a completely satisfactory performance in this job is successful completion of a formal two-year training in a school of radiologic technology approved by the Joint Review Committee for Education in the Radiological Technology (JRCERT) of the American Medical Association. Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and certified by the Texas Department of Health/Bureau of Radiation Control (CMRT). A minimum of one year of radiographer experience is required.

Department: Imaging Svcs - Special Procedures Schedule: Full-Time Shift: Days/Evenings Hours: 9:00a - 5:30p Job Details: Assists the radiologist with all invasive procedures to include use of all Special Procedures radiographic equipment/devices and patient monitoring devices. Monitors vital signs for all patients requiring conscious sedation within the department (excluding MRI). Maintains patient records and database to monitor outcome and quality of care. Maintains emergency equipment and medication trays with the department. Maintains adequate stock levels of required supplies for the Special Procedures Suite: Performs general diagnostic work as required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Special Procedures Certification preferred. Current CPR certification.

A minimum of six months hands-on training is required. R.D.M.S. registered or registry eligible. This technologist must become CPR certified.Required Experience: Applicants must have a minimum of two years of CT experience and be trained in Ultrasound or willing to train in Ultrasound. Preference will be given to applicants with prior CT and US experience. Must be familiar with and able to perform and/or learn the technical operations associated with CT. Must be familiar with and able to perform and/or learn the technical operations associated with US. Must be able to work under stressful and emergent situations.
