Job Description - External:This position assists the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub person who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures. Maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field.Experience - External:This position requires two years of Surgical Technician experience or equivalency; successful completion of an accredited OR Technician program or equivalency (the accredited program requires one year of school); be certified by the Surgical Technologist Association; possess a current Basic Life Support Certification, Level C, or obtain recertification within one month of employment; and have demonstrated human relations skills.Must have experience with the Divinci Robotic Surgical equipment and urology surgical cases

The candidate we select will be able to perform competently most of the cases in a given service/shift.Minimum Requirements: This position requires completion of appropriate Tech school courses, 24 months of experience and Surgical Tech certification or eligibility. Additional Information: This is part-time position rotating between FEL OR and NSC. This position will be Mondays and at least 1-2 other days/week. FEL OR does ENT/Plastics and some general surgery. NSC handles orthopedic surgery and plastics. Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday; 8hrs per week. The Technologist I selects, plans, organizes and effectively utilize required instrumentation when assisting in the scrub role. The Surgical Technologist I work as a member of the surgical team and is responsible to assist the surgeon and circulating nurse with assigned duties.The Surgical Technologist II possesses advanced knowledge of aseptic/surgical technique and is able to anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure. The Technologist II serves as a resource person for specialty cases and demonstrates working knowledge of specialty equipment/instrumentation. Serves as a primary preceptor for inexperience surgical technologists and acts as a resource for other staff orienting to the scrub role in the operating room.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or GED equivalent. Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist training program. 0-3 and/ or 3-5 years of clinical OR experience in an acute care setting required. Associate degree in Allied Health, achievement of specialty certification, or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.

These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospitals philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Clinical Technician training program or LPN Program strongly preferred. Successful completion of a comprehensive Unit-based competency program. IV insertion/ Phlebotomy training. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
