The Gastroenterology Department at Virginia Mason is seeking a Physician Assistant. Our GI department is a world-renowned group of leaders in GI and advanced GI endoscopies. This position provides high quality primary care to promote the enhancement of health and prevention of illness. 1. Performs routine physical exams, as well as educates and counsels the patient. 2. Consults by telephone with patients and other health care providers. Completes paperwork. 3. Participates in quality assurance activities. 4. Accountabilities will vary depending on specialty area. Responsibilities include outpatient clinic visits, inpatient consultations, rounds, coordination of care, communication with house staff and GI MDs. There may be an opportunity for procedure involvement as well. The candidate should have interest in seeing many types of GI/hepatology patients in both the hospital and clinic settings. The candidate will be working collaboratively with 19 GI physicians and non physician providers in this very busy and innovative group. Some hospital coverage shift options will be discussed as candidates are considered. This position requires an advanced background in medicine; an understanding of anatomy, physiology, histology, and understanding of women’s health issues. Certification as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority in the State of Washington, plus one year experience in specialty areas. Come join the quality health care leader in Seattle.
