The Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) in is operated by the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC). ANTHC is a non-profit health organization owned and managed by the Alaska Native tribal governments and their regional health corporations.
Under limited supervision, provides orthopedic care for patients of Community HealthServices and allied clinics.Provides acute and routine, direct orthopedic patient care for TSMS patients.Obtains comprehensive patient history and physical and operative consent prior to surgery. Identifies conditions that may require additional care pre- and postoperatively. Provides assistance to surgeon in operating rooms.Examines and diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans. Orders and interprets clinical tests. Prescribes medication and obtains specialty consultation when necessary. Completes necessary orthopedic procedures.Maintains and updates patient care records. Advises patient and family to promote understanding of test results, treatment options and procedures. Coordinates and ensures implementation of treatment plans, tracks patient progress and provides follow up evaluations.Provides consultation services to other departments of the hospital and statewide. Provides orthopedic expertise and patient care to regional tribal health clinics. Conducts direct patient care clinics at rural facilities. Provides telephone consultations and reviews referrals. Promotes quality improvement of regional orthopedic services through counseling and training regional healthcare providers.Supervises, schedules and directs medical support staff and medical students. Assigns tasks and priorities, reviews treatment plans, and monitors performance of basic procedures. Counsels, trains and coaches assigned staff.Provides leadership, direction and guidance in Orthopedics Department. Assists physician to evaluate quality/quantity of care.Participates in department and divisional planning committees and initiatives. Maintains continued medical education.
