Arizona Community Physicians (ACP), a physician owned medical group in Tucson, AZ, is recruiting for a Laboratory Manager. ACP is the largest independent medical practice in the state of Arizona.
The Laboratory Manager directs technical and administrative aspects of the outpatient laboratory in accordance with CLIA, OSHA, and COLA standards, while maintaining the financial operations within the designated budget. This is a working manager position, necessitating current knowledge of laboratory equipment, testing and regulations for chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, bacterialogical, serological and microscopic examination.Minimum qualifications include:-Bachelors degree in laboratory science or related field.-At least four years of training and/or experience in a high complexity laboratory.-Previous supervisory experience.Employee Benefits include:-Competitive salary-Medical insurance-Paid time off-Paid holidays-401K and retirement plansSchedule: Full-time, salaried; Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PMResponsibilities:Administrative:Demonstrates thorough knowledge of laboratory policies and procedure in performing administrative duties to include interviewing applicants, training, planning and directing all aspects of the laboratory. Develop and implement laboratory goals and objectives. Evaluate overall laboratory performance in terms of quantity, quality, staffing, costs and revenues. Recommends improvements to operations and evaluates acquisition of new equipment. Establishes and implements laboratory policies and procedures. Maintains up-to-date resource manuals and materials for OSHA, CLIA and health plan contracts. Maintains quality control and maintenance records on instruments and equipment. Complies with COLA regulations and maintains applicable certifications. Processes bi-weekly payroll, vendor invoices, human resources documents, and other applicable paperwork. Negotiates vendor contracts for major equipment purchases, reagents, and supplies.Technical: Demonstrates expertise in performing full range of laboratory testing. Demonstrates thorough understanding and interpretation of OSHA/CLIA/COLA guidelines for maintaining compliance for a high complexity laboratory. Maintains and insures accuracy of laboratory reporting information system including designing reports and suggesting acceptable normal ranges. Demonstrates expertise in utilizing lab instruments and equipment. Monitors scheduled maintenance and calibrations of all laboratory equipment. Demonstrates competency in utilizing office equipment to include PC, printers, fax machine, photocopier and telephone system and the lab information system software. Establishes protocol for troubleshooting and reporting hardware and software problems.Supervisory and Leadership: Demonstrates authority and decisiveness in role. Provides training, orientation and structure for new employees and assesses on-going training needs of existing staff.
