Uses clinical and technical skills to guide the examination and provide the physician with a diagnostic quality examination. Identifies ones own clinical limitations and seeks appropriate internal and external resources to improve patient care. Seeks improvement in practice standards by addressing appropriateness of clinical indications. Functions as a preceptor/mentor and is recognized for strong clinical skills by peers. Assume responsibility for defined caseload of patients. Gather and process relevant procedure data. Possess a comprehensive understanding of heart and vascular and thoracic anatomy, heart and vascular pathophysiology, hemodynamics, and embryology. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of ultrasound physics, instrumentation, tissue characteristics, and measurements of blood flow, including the biological effects of ultrasound. Familiar with other types of diagnostic tests (i.e., clinical laboratory tests, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac catherization) and be able to integrate heart and vascular ultrasound results with the results of such other tests. Is sensitive to cultural differences and considers their impact incorporates culturally sensitive interventions using consultation and resources. Registered or registry eligible in vascular ultrasound through ARDMS AND practices at least 1 of the listed modalities (adult echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasound). Performs applicable volumes to maintain competency: 300 vascular exams per year. Must be registered in at least 1 of the following modalities: adult echocardiography, pediatric echocardiography and/or vascular ultrasound through ARDMS AND demonstrates regional coverage flexibility and/or interdepartmental modality flexibility.Requirements: Qualified candidates must have a minimum of two years experience and be ARDMS/ RVT eligible RVT is preferred. Graduate of CAAHEP Accredited Program is strongly preferred. Must be registered within 12 months of initial hire date.
