***This position is located @ 22890 Virgil Goode Highway Boones Mill, Virginia***JOB SCOPE: Frequent communication/interaction with patients, physicians, and co-workers, as well as pharmacies, hospital departments, nursing homes and reference labs. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. As a representative of Carilion Medical Group, you are expected to maintain a neat and professional appearance, demonstrate commitment to service at all times and adhere to policies and procedures.Education: Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) required. Experience: One year experience in physician office preferred.Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists or the American Registry of Medical Assistants is required. BLS Certification/CPR certification required.Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective communication skills in order to work with the public. Computer skills to utilize database systems to perform job duties required. Must be able to problem-solve.
