We are currently recruiting for an experienced Physician Assistant/Clinical Physician Extender (CPE) for a part time position. In this integral role, you will work in collaboration with the supervising physician to provide comprehensive surgical and medical care to surgical patients. You will be responsible for providing direct health care management to patients and assuming the duties of first assistant to the surgeon during surgery. Additional duties will entail diagnosing, monitoring, and managing simple and chronic cases, assisting the surgeon in management of severe acute cases, and providing care to hospitalized patients on the surgical inpatient service. Care includes performing admissions from the emergency department and directing admissions from the surgical attendings office and consults. You will also perform perioperative exams, provide pre-operative consents and clearance, write post-operative orders appropriate to surgical interventions, and re-evaluate the patient throughout the hospital stay, modifying plan of care as needed. To qualify for this position, you must be a graduate of an AMA and CAHEA approved Physician Assistant or Surgeon’s Assistant Program with certification from the NCCPA as well as licensure from the Delaware State Board of Medicine. Surgical experience in operating room and inpatient management setting is required.
