Under general supervision, assists in supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities and operations of the respiratory therapy department; supervises and coordinates care of patients requiring care from respiratory therapy staff in inpatient units and some outpatient areas; ensures adherence to organizational and department policies and procedures, and accepted protocols and procedures. Collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians and other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care. Provides direct care to patients as required. Reports to Respiratory Therapy Manager. B.S. in Respiratory Care strongly preferred, Baccalaureate degree preferred. A.S. Respiratory Therapists with an identified plan to complete a Baccalaureate degree in a reasonable timeframe will be considered. Three years of respiratory therapy experience required. Recent acute care pediatric experience preferred. Management, supervisory, and/or leadership experience preferred. Current State of Connecticut Respiratory Therapist licensure required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required within 6 months from date of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months from date of hire; and NRP certification required within 6 months from date of hire.
