This position is located in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN. You will serve as a Physical Therapist responsible for evaluating, planning and implementing the treatment program for patients with various disabilities and medical conditions.Incumbent interprets the prescriptions requesting PT using specialized skills and medical knowledge in the evaluation of the patients´ medical condition; evaluates the patients´ present functional levels and disabilities; establishes meaningful therapeutic goals and designs a treatment plan to meet the goals established in the most efficient manner; makes changes to the treatment intervention based on patient response to treatment utilizing creative thinking and problem solving; provides treatment to patients with the diagnoses of upper and lower extremity joint replacements, degenerative conditions of the spine including spinal stenosis, spondylosis, and spondylolisthesis, mild to severely impaired patients with stroke and other brain injury, administers a complete treatment plan; documents the physical findings noted during evaluations.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: To apply for this position, you must have the following qualifications:GS-11: One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9; Educational Requirement: a degree that included or was supplemented by (1) a physical therapy curriculum approved by a recognized professional accrediting organization at the time the curriculum was completed, and (2) the clinical affiliation requirements prescribed by the school.Specialized experience is defined as experience that has provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.)
