Position Summary: Provides technical information, coordination and direction to technical staff in a specific laboratory section engaged in performing specialized tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Monitors quality control, quality assurance and regulatory compliance. Participates in and facilitates the management of the operational, personnel and financial activities of the department. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital´s philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.Required Education/Training: B.S. Degree, preferably in Medical Technology, or related field. Masters degree in chemistry, physical or biological sciences preferred. Must meet CLEA 88 requirements for high complexity testing. Must meet the Federal requirements. ASCP or NCA certification required. ASCP, NCA, HHS or HEW certified or licenseRequired Experience: Three years as Laboratory Technologist. Prior supervisory experience is desirable. Supervisory license or specialty certification preferred. Satisfy the standards of a Medical Technologist in an outstanding manner. Demonstrate technical expertise at a high level. Demonstrate management leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to remain calm and function in stressful situations.
