IDEXX is hiring an experienced Microbiology Supervisor for our veterinary diagnostic laboratory in North Grafton, MA. This is a day shift position in a busy reference lab directing 20 techs in all aspects of the micro department including parasitology. The Supervisor who will be responsible for ensuring all work is performed as outlined in the Departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) while maintaining quality, productivity and personnel activities consistent with laboratory goals and objectives.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain working knowledge of department standard operating procedures (SOPs) Be able to perform all routine testing and analyses of client specimens within department Reject samples and reassign testing based on IDEXX standards Monitor workflow to ensure client turnaround times (TATs) are met Ensure that all logs are recorded according to IDEXX standards Monitor, analyze, review and sign all department quality control (QC) documentation Train new laboratory staff Update staff training records Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated Maintain and monitor service of instruments used in department Maintain supply of reagents and consumables needed by department Performance management including coaching/counseling and performance reviews Investigate complaints and incidents within department Writing performance reviews of department staff Responsible for scheduling department staff Assist in development and management of financial budget requirements Provide business review information to Lab Manager Assist in personnel management including recruiting, hiring, training, disciplinary/corrective action, terminations and overall performance management Understand, follow, and enforce IDEXX laboratory safety procedures Understand, follow, and enforce IDEXX quality control procedures Basic understanding and following of concepts of LEAN and 5S Other duties and responsibilities as assignedEducation: B.S. in lab science or medical technologyMT/ASCP or equivalent certification preferred MT or military lab specialist.Experience: 3 -5 years clinical micro lab experience preferredSupervisory experience and demonstrated leadership in MicrobiologyREQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of GCP guidelines as appropriate Solid communication skills Relevant computer program skills Demonstrated skills in leadership effectiveness, teamwork, versatility and strong work ethics We offer great benefits and competitive pay. We are seeking an experienced Specimen Processor Supervisor for our Memphis TN, veterinary reference laboratory. This individual will be responsible for overseeing a busy 3rd shift team of 11 specimen processors. As well as, ensure all work is performed as outlined in the Specimen Processing SOPs and departmental personnel comply with all policies and procedures of the company and within the department. Perform quality control duties according to the guidelines for good laboratory practices. This position routinely requires 50% or more bench work. This is a third shift position, Monday - Friday, 11:00pm - 7:30am and Saturdays as needed, 11:00pm - 7:30am. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Schedule personnel within the department and authorize overtime. Direct all technical activities within the department. Teach others in the following areas: Specimen requirements for routinely ordered clinical laboratory tests. Ability to determine acceptability of specimens for testing. Receipt, unpacking, coding, accessioning of specimens received into the laboratory. Read technical material to acquire specific knowledge. Prioritize and batch material for processing and data entry. Identify and correct coding and data entry errors. Apply proper procedures for processing specimens. Contact clients to obtain information include clarification regarding samples and/or test requests. Oversee new development, evaluation or modification of procedures within the department. Monitor the workflow within the department. Insure adequate employee training in new or modified procedures. Ensure biohazards, chemical hazards and laboratory safety. Waste removal and/or tracking, handling and disposal. Must be familiar with the operation, maintenance and/or repair of departmental equipment. Responsible for all departmental equipment repair, maintenance calibration and standardization. Read, understand and follow all applicable SOPs. Insure all departmental employees perform procedures according to written policies and follow the prescribed quality control measures. Assist customer service in questions or problems for clients. Interview applicants and conduct performance reviews for department employees. Document and update training for department employees. Responsible for inventory control and ordering of supplies. Communicates any unusual or problematic occurrences to the laboratory manager. Monitor and enforce all safety procedures and policies. Other duties as assigned.
