DEPARTMENT: Head and Neck SurgerySCHEDULE: On call, 0 hrs/week; Variable Shift ****NOTE: Starting and ending times and days may vary according to departmental needs. Schedule day or evening may also change to meet departmental needs, typically 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Must be willing to work some Saturdays throughout the year. ****EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Masters degree in audiology required. Current California state license in audiology required. Certificate of clinical competency in audiology preferred. California hearing aid dispensers license may be required. BLS. Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) required.JOB SUMMARY: Supervises and directs a staff of audiologists in providing diagnostic and therapeutic hearing services. Develops and revises evaluation and treatment standards as necessary in order to ensure compliance with TPMG and outside regulatory agency standards. Administers diagnostic audiological tests that allow the differentiation between types of hearing disorders, coordinates and interprets test results and consults with and makes recommendations on hearing disorders to physicians.QUALIFICATIONS: Proficient in diagnostic evaluation of hearing, prevention, habilitation and rehabilitation services for auditory problems. Ten or more years of post-licensure experience in the field of audiology required. 2 years of prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred. Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Previous post-licensure experience in the field of audiology preferred. Proficient in diagnostic evaluation of hearing, prevention, and rehabilitation services for auditory problems.DUTIES: Responsible for the clinical and administrative oversight of audiology services for the medical center. Supervises a staff of 2 or more audiologists in providing diagnostic and therapeutic hearing services to Kaiser Permanente members. Develops new programs, policies and procedures for audiology services. Participates in the development of in-service educational programs relating to audiology for physicians, staff and members. Monitors quality assurance issues relating to the practice of audiology including compliance with audiology licensing laws and ethical codes, and ensuring high quality professional standards. Functions as a practicing audiologist approximately70% of the time. Administers diagnostic audiological tests that allow the differentiation between types of hearing disorders, coordinates and interprets tests results and consults with and makes recommendations on hearing disorders to physicians. Provides diagnostic evaluation of hearing, prevention, habilitation and rehabilitation services for auditory problems and research relating to hearing and attendant disorders. Physically and otoscopically examines the outer structures of the ear. Procedures may include evaluation, fitting and dispensing of hearing aids; cochlear implant assessment, programming and rehabilitation; and electro physiologic evaluation of the vestibular and auditory mechanisms, in addition to electro acoustic measures of the peripheral and central auditory systems. Counsels individuals with auditory disorders, their families and other service providers regarding the etiology of the disorder and its management.Provides reports and coordinates audiological results with other diagnostic data such as educational, medical, social and behavioral information. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente“s Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente“s policies and procedures.
