All job duties are performed in a manner that demonstrates the KGH values of caring, respect and professional excellence toward patients, families, volunteers, physicians and coworkers.POSITION REQUIREMENTS1.Education:Successful completion of a professional education in a baccalaureate curriculum approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is required.2.Certification:Must be a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) and licensed in the State of Alaska. CPR required.3.Experience:Experience in geriatrics, acute care and home health is preferred but will consider new graduates. Must have basic splinting skills with experience with dynamic hand splinting preferred. Must demonstrate good body mechanics. Must be able to meet the age-specific needs of the patients served by the department.4.Interpersonal:The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with staff, physicians, volunteers and patients is required.5.Physical:Must have ability to: tolerate long periods of sitting, walking or standing; read computer screen text; communicate verbally with individuals in person or on the telephone; read and write text; and solve complex problems. Must be able to assist others in moving, lifting and positioning patients weighing up to 200 pounds up to 15 times per day.ESSENTIAL DUTIES-Performs occupational therapy services establishing realistic treatment goals and implementing treatment to meet patients needs in a professional and efficient manner.-Provides oral and written reports with accuracy and timeliness to ensure continuity of care and efficient departmental operations.-Assumes appropriate responsibility for orienting, teaching and supervising new staff and volunteers in a professional but caring manner.-Responsible for the ongoing Quality Improvement program so that quality patient care is assured.-Performs additional duties in an efficient, cooperative manner.-Ensures own professional effectiveness through continuing education and professional development.-Performs all duties in a manner consistent with standards, values and mission of KGH.
