Performs embedding, microtomy, routine, special stains, Immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence including technically complex procedures such us ultra-microtomy for both thick and thin sections, film exposure, developing, printing from both systems film and digital, following standard operating procedures for patient specimens, proficiency samples and quality control. Perform frozen section for Immunofluorescence, Immunohistochemistry and ACE. Physician support during renal biopsy collection to identify under the dissection microscope the biopsy quality. Be able to perform tissue procurement in house and out-side multiple facilities in our region. Performs equipment maintenance and troubleshooting specially on transmission electron microscopy and fluorescent microscope. Responsible for all records, files, general materials, immunoreagents, and frozen tissue bank. Serves as a technical resource and preceptor/mentor. Evaluates new equipment and procedures and prepares standard operating procedures. Performs other duties as needed. Job Specifications: High School graduate or equivalent (GED), Associate Degree. College level courses pertaining to electron microscopy preferred. Minimum of two years of experience in a high complexity pathology laboratory including Transmission Electron Microscopy. Immunohistochemistry and Immunofluorescence preferred. Demonstrated history of increasing responsibility and leadership. Prefer experience in computerized pathology lab. : Histotechnician (HT). Certification by Microscopy Society of America (MSA) and Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred.
