We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Now, MGH Emergency Services seeks one dynamic Executive Director to lead the dedicated and talented team of administrators, clinicians, nurses, researchers and support staff who make MGH a national leader in delivering expert diagnosis and treatment of all emergency patients. As MGH Emergency Services continues to build effective partnerships with multiple service lines throughout the hospital, the department needs an experienced, strategic-thinking individual to lead its interactive, multidisciplinary clinical, research and emergency preparedness efforts. This vibrant department encompasses 155 non-faculty FTEs, 50 clinical and research faculty members and the largest emergency medicine residency program in the United States (administered jointly with Brigham and Women´s Hospital). The Executive Director will have direct responsibility for $40 million, including both hospital and PO operating budgets, and about $5 million in research and sundry funds. He or she will also have an important leadership role in emergency preparedness, which includes oversight and development of grants and program funds. The Executive Director will direct an exceptional 24/7 department, overseeing an extremely talented leadership team while balancing competing interests and strategically planning for opportunities at the department and institution levels. Services provided include general emergency care, trauma care, pediatric care, and radiography. Several specialized treatment areas within the ED are tailored to meet the specific needs of patients. As a Level I Trauma Center, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and Level I Burn Center, MGH is accredited to treat patients with the most critical injuries. The MGH Emergency Department cares for about 90,000 patients a year. Working as a team, the nurses and physicians help patients and their loved ones cope with illness or injury.
