Position Purpose: Under direction of the Respiratory Care Director the incumbent coordinates the daily activities of the Respiratory Care Staff and is responsible for their needed equipment and supplies to provide efficient, high quality respiratory care. This position may function as a liaison with purchasing and vendors and will assist the manager in all levels of function and responsibilities of the department as needed. Nature and Scope: This position does provide direct patient care.This position requires the incumbent to evaluate subordinates continually and with annual appraisals through direct supervision and record keeping. The position requires advanced clinical skills in Respiratory Care with all patients - neonate to geriatric.Respiratory Care means the treatment, management, diagnostic testing, control and care of persons with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. The incumbent has the authority to perform and evaluate respiratory care given, to initiate CPR, to contact physicians in relation to care ordered, and perform all activities as assigned.The incumbent is accountable for the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of Respiratory Care for Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric patients and families.
