Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Therapist - 7:00am - 7:00pm to join our team in Delaware.

Respiratory Therapist- The respiratory therapist provides, under the general direction of the Therapist in Charge or Assistant Director of Respiratory Care, all routine and emergency respiratory care in all patient care areas. The respiratory therapists provide clinical direction for respiratory care trainees and technicians. The therapists provide consultation and education to other health care professionals as well. The therapist is in routine contact with patients during the provision of hands-on care and in frequent contact with patients´ families. The respiratory therapist will have contact with other hospital staff, such as nurses and physicians. ____________________________________________________________________________________ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES1. Verifies all physician orders for respiratory care.2. Assesses patients clinically and evaluates them for appropriateness of therapy.3. Provides aerosolized medication therapy.4. Provides chest physiotherapy.5. Provides airway care including tracheostomy changes, E-T taping and airway suctioning when appropriate. 6. Provides positive pressures therapy, such as but not limited to IPPB and IPV.7. Provides incentive spirometry therapy.8. Provides medical gas therapy9. Provides ventilator setup and management.10. Performs non-invasive monitoring, i.e., pulse oximetry, transcutaneous O2/CO2 and end-tidal CO2 monitoring.11. Assists with in-house and inter-facility transports.12. Provides emergency respiratory care, i.e., airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.13. Performs arterial blood gas sampling and electrocardiograms.14. Provides point of care testing for arterial blood analysis.15. Participates in airway management during bronchoscopies.16. Changes equipment.17. Enters patient care orders and charges into the computer system and Kardex.18. Documents patient care and response to care on the appropriate forms and in the electronic chart.19. Participates in discharge planning and home care education by training patients, their families and designated care providers in respiratory care procedures and practices.20. Provides recommendations and education to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care.21. Participates in the evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures.22. Maintains current knowledge about departmental policies and procedures.23. Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement and working with departments / services to improve the care provided. 24. Provides age and developmental appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.JOB REQUIREMENTS: I. Education, Training and ExperienceA. Graduate of an educational program for Respiratory Care accredited by an A.A.R.C. recognized agency.B. An Associate´s Degree in respiratory science, health / physical sciences, or equivalent with coursework in chemistry, anatomy, physiology, physics, algebra, and microbiology is required.C. Minimum six (6) months clinical experience in Respiratory Care is preferred.II. Licenses, Registrations, or CertificationsA. Successful completion of the C.R.T.T. examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and / or active certification by the N.B.R.C. is required within one (1) year after employment.B. Active Delaware License is required.C. Active registry by the N.B.R.C. and / or successful completion of the R.R.T. Examination administered by the N.B.R.C. is preferred.D. Active Basic Life Support certification is required within six (6) months after employment.E. Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and / or Pediatric Advanced Life Support is preferred.
