Mercy Gilbert Medical Center opened in June 2006. At present, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center has 206 private rooms with guest accommodations, with the capacity to expand to 400 beds over the next five years. Mercy Gilbert Medical Center is a four story, full-service, acute-care hospital spanning 60 acres. An additional 40 acres housing a medical office building, research and lab facilities will complete the campus. Knowledge of the purpose of MSDS information and location in the department; the procedure in the event of a hazardous material spill; and the hazardous communication plan.12. Responsible for reporting all events per policy, including sentinel events and near misses. Identification and reporting of medical safety improvement opportunities. Understanding and following the National Patient Safety Goals.13. Knowledge of the hospital and departmental infection control plan, policies and/or procedures, including standard precautions; hand washing procedures; prevention of exposures to blood-borne/other pathogens and needle stick injuries; handling and disposal of sharps; and reporting of exposure incidents.14. Knowledge of the procedures to take in the event that smoke or fire is detected (R.A.C.E.); the location of department fire extinguishers and fire alarm pull boxes and how to operate; steps to take when the fire alarm is sounded and the fire is in another area; and department fire evacuation plan.15. Responsible to report a security incident; knowledge of the procedures to take during and emergency security incident; maintenance of a secure environment related to personal items; and appropriate security of hospital/facility items.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures.2. Assures that good safety practices are utilized for the protection of patients, staff and self.3. Treats all patients with dignity and respect. Complaints/concerns are minimal.4. Educates patient, family and others, as appropriate, in regard to procedures the patient may be having. Provides the necessary documentation as appropriate.5. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work and assures that rooms are stocked with the necessary supplies and accessories.6. Able to perform the clerical functions of order entry and film sign-out with the use of the computer system as well as being able to file/retrieve films and hang/remove films from film viewers.7. Covers call and responds appropriately.8. Displays competency operating teleradiology system.9. Performs examinations according to workload and as directed by departmental lead or charge person.10. Maintains professional licensure as defined by position qualifications.11. Displays competency operating equipment and performing procedures in the department, in the operating room, and on a mobile basis.12. Always provides written documentation on the requisition stating the reason(s) the exams are being done. Initials all requisitions signifying that you performed the exam.13. Accurately marks sonograms and assures that the patient and technologist information is clearly visible.14. Always produces high-quality sonograms and has minimal waste. Exams are performed in a timely fashion minimizing patient waiting times.15. Displays a thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and positioning as it relates to the performance of procedures.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS1. Certificate Degree in Ultrasound2. Two (2) years Ultrasound experience3. Knowledge and technical competence with ultrasound equipment and procedures4. Ability to interact with Radiologists in discussing and interpreting results of scans5. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, making decisions and directing work and patient flow to achieve maximum operational efficiency6. In-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the medical terminology associated with various proceduresLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION1. Current Ultrasound License (ARDMS) in Abdomen or OB/GYN2. Current BLS Healthcare Provider card
