We are looking for a new or recent graduate PA who is devoted to quality patient relationships, treating patients as you would want your own family member to be treated. High quality communication skills and diagnostic skills, and a sense of humor are desired characteristics. Our practice is organized so that the PA is a very important member of the patient care team, complementing the patient care of the practices documented high level of patient satisfaction. Orthopaedic experience helpful, but we will train you for the necessary skills. ATC background is advantageous.In addition to seeing your own patients parallel to your physician´s schedule, you will first assist in surgery, be trained to perform diagnostic skeletal ultrasound, and team round on inpatients. You will be treated as a partner with respect and kindness, and without the hierarchy pattern seen with many physician´s practices. Your physician has had a physician/PA team approach his entire career.Our current PA, employed with us for the past 4 years, is happy to talk with prospective final candidates. He has decided to relocate his family to a large urban area to be closer to extended family.Our practice is a solo general orthopaedic practice, with 40% total joints, 40% arthroscopy, and 20% fractures/miscellaneous. We have a busy office and surgical practice with a wide variety of cases. We do NOT take care of foot problems, spine pain patients, or workers compensation. Call is one weeknight/week, and every 4th weekend with your physician, with surgical assisting on weekend call days paid hourly in addition to regular salary. Night-time work is very infrequent.Our location is in Sonora CA, 130 miles due east of San Francisco in the Sierra Nevada foothills. We are a beautiful historical gold mining community, located in the northern half of the county that contains Yosemite National Park, a 50 minute drive south of Sonora. Although the listed population of the city proper is 5,000, we serve 60,000-65,000 people in our service area. As a result, we maintain a very nice variety of restaurants, multi-screen movie theatre, three theatre companies, multiple big box retailers, and multiple wineries. Three large reservoirs are within a 30 minute drive for water sports, in addition to white water rafting, hiking and horseback riding, and stream/lake fishing in the high Sierra. Two ski areas, Bear Valley and Dodge Ridge, are a 45 and 35 drives away.Benefits include a competitive salary commensurate with your experience, with salary increments during the first year dependent on skills acquisition.
