The Division Supervisor for the Microbiology Department must be proficient and accurate in managing operations/staff/ budget of section assigned. Knowledgeable and proficient in laboratory testing of section to which assigned.Key Responsibilities:* Proficient and efficient in knowledge of and performance of all testing procedures in section supervised.* Effectively trains and ensures competency of staff on assigned procedures; Effectively manages staff / scheduling of assigned area. Initiates progressive disciplinary action as needed after consultation with lab administrative chain of command.* Abides by and is knowledgeable of federal / state / accrediting agency regulatory requirements affecting area without exception; Effectively implements and maintains QC/QA in section assigned.* Writes and updates procedure and technical manuals in timely manner; Shows proficiency at computer-related duties.* Proficient and effective in budget development and managing expenses within budget constraints.* Willingly and effectively investigates and implements new procedures as assigned.* Effectively coordinates and is responsible for and implements special projects / tasks assigned.* Positively responds to and implements change; Consistently communicates effectively.Requirements Education: Bachelors degree in Medical Technology leading to ASCP registry or equivalentExperience: Minimum 5 years at MT levelNumber and Type of Employees Supervised: 10-20Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: MT(ASCP) or specialty exam or equivalent as determined by professional director.Special Training: must possess knowledge and skills to perform laboratory tests on patients of all ages, computer skills required, interpersonal skills, budgetary skills preferredAt Palmetto Health we believe everyone should love the job theyre in.
