SMC Occupational Therapy Responsibilities 1. Evaluates each patient appropriate to their diagnosis and medical status. 2. Establishes appropriate treatment plans/goals based on evaluation, patients age, medical history and dysfunction. 3. Initiates and performs treatments as appropriate through use of various exercises and activities, ADLs splinting, therapeutic media and rehabilitations. 4. Provides education and instructs patient, families and staff as appropriate in treatment to assist in attainment of goals set in the treatment plan. 5. Maintains accurate and timely medical records, daily charges, personnel in-service attendance records. 6. Delegates selective forms of treatment and other tasks to support personnel as appropriate. Supervises accordingly and facilitates a professional working environment. 7. Participates in in-services relevant to licensure and maintains records. Participates in staff development programs through orientations and in-services. 8. Maintains a proactive involvement in the Seton Performance Improvement process as it relates to departmental, site and network functions. 9. Shares in the responsibility for achieving team goals. 10. Communicates effectively to ensure positive outcomes. 11. May participate in selection of new team members and assist with peer review of performance. Minimum Qualifications Masters and/or doctorate degree preferred. Two (2) years of experience is preferred. Licensed by the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners (TBOTE) is required. Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred. Maintains JCAHO and other regulatory safety requirements and department specific training and competencies. 4. Determines departmental supply and equipment needs and assists with budgeting for such. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.
