SMCW Speech Therapy Pflugervil Responsibilities 1. Administer and interpret assessments, including highly specialized dysphasia assessment for potentially life-threatening conditions. Establish appropriate and reasonable interdisciplinary plans of care, heeding physical, mental, cultural, developmental, social, linguistic, and economic factors and preferences. 2. Implement individualized plans of care, including patient education/counseling, remediation and facilitation techniques. Maintain documentation of all evaluations, treatments and education provided for each individual patient in compliance with Seton policy. Advocate for patient needs through interaction with interdisciplinary team, including but not limited to case managers, social workers, therapists, dieticians, nurses, and physicians, to ensure appropriate continuum of care. With consent of patient/guardian, provide consultation with school/educational and/or work personnel to facilitate transition back into the community after illness/injury. 3. Allocate caseloads by numbers of patients, types of disorders, ages of patients, languages spoken, clinical experience, and scheduling constraints. Coordinate and schedule evaluations and treatment with appropriate departments and personnel, within and outside of the Seton network, such as physicians’ offices. 4. Facilitate and improve understanding of unique populations served, through family, staff, and community education, including in-services, support groups, and additional program development. Over sight of graduate students. 5. Assist with administrative duties as assigned. Examples include participates in staff development programs, supervises and assists to orient new staff and students, Maintains involvement in Performance improvement, assists with achieving team goals and supports budget initiatives, assists with selection of new team members. Minimum Qualifications Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year or currently completing a Clinical Fellowship Year under the supervision of an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist is required. Both pediatric and adult population experience preferred. Current Speech-Language Pathology License or current Speech-Language Pathology Intern License in Texas is required. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology by ASHA required. CPR certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications Experience in outpatient pediatric speech therapy. Skills Bilingual (Spanish) and functional American Sign Language skills preferred. Skill in speaking Spanish is preferred. Familiarity with prioritizing caseloads is required. Written and verbal skills for communicating with medical staff are required. Compliance with continuing education requirements is required.
