Functions as charge therapist in absence of a supervisor.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Successful completion of a two year AMA approved school of Respiratory Care with Associates Degree in Respiratory Care, completion of a 96 hour program with a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, or a Non Traditional Program which meets the criteria of the National Board for Respiratory Care.The applicant must have also completed the Entry Level Certification Examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care, must submit proof of successful completion of the written and clinical simulation examination for Registered Respiratory Therapists administered by the National Board of Respiratory Care along with registry number, and have a District of Columbia license of Respiratory Care Practitioner.

We now seek a: RESPIRATROY THERAPIST (PRN - Rotating Shift) RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs complex respiratory care treatments, services, and provides continuous monitoring of patients and equipment. Works in Nursing Units, Intensive Care, Emergency Room, Recovery Room and other units as assigned. Functions as charge therapist in absence of a supervisor. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Licensed in the District of Columbia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Completion of at least one year of an AMA approved program in Respiratory Therapy and, completion of the written certification examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care. A basic mechanical aptitude is necessary. Must possess the skills and ability to perform routine and complex respiratory care procedures such as delivery therapy. Ability to perform skills such as arterial puncture, airway management, and be able to function in very stressful and life threatening situations. Must demonstrate working knowledge of all respiratory care equipment and be able to practically apply knowledge of such. Must have good communication skills and able to communicate with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients and family members. Must possess initiative, creativity and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
