POSITION SUMMARY: COORDINATOR GENERAL SURGERY Scheduling for all shifts Annual evaluations and implementation of new initiatives Provide oversight of department Be a leader to and a resource for staff Insure that day to day operations for department are maintained Work collaboratively with surgeons and operating room staff to insure coverage of OR cases Assist in recruitment and retention of staff Maintains open communication with other departments Function as first assistant in all general surgery cases EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: Graduate of an approved PA program. ACLS & BLS required. Board eligible or certified. Licensed by the State of New York. Maintains CME and licensing as required by New York State Department of Education. Maintain Clinical Affiliate status with SJHHC. Supervisory experience helpful. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service The coordinator is responsible for the daily operations, staff, service or function assigned.EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:Bachelors degree in appropriate discipline with one to two years progressive experience in the field. Advanced degree is a plus/requirement, depending on specific service needs and/or requirements. Ideally the candidate will have some supervisory experience. Or, AAS degree in appropriate discipline with progressive experience in the field will be considered based on specific department needs and/or requirements. Or, high school graduate with a minimum of six years progressive experience in the field and additional supervisory training based on specific service need. Certification/licensure as required by regulatory agency. Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise. Completes population specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and services.
