Solo General Surgeon needs Physician Assistant to Join Practice which includes General Surgery, Surgical Endoscopy, and Minimally-Invasive Vein Surgery
Stephen J. Hopkins, M.D., F.A.C.S. (Board-Certified General Surgeon) is looking for a Physician Assistant to join practice because of growing volume. Our Web Sites are:DoctorHopkins.comSonoraVeinCenter.comMy solo General Surgery practice is located in the Sierra Mountain Foothills, in Sonora, California. Currently my practice is approx 35% General Surgery, 35% Surgical Endoscopy (approx 600-700 endoscopy procedures/year), and 30% minimally-invasive vein surgery. The vein-portion of my practice is growing quickly. I am looking for a qualified Physician Assistant to join my practice, on a long-term basis. I am willing to train, if this individual is willing to learn. Responsibilities will increase as skills/knowledge improves. Responsibilities will include performing evaluations in the office (majority of time), assisting in surgery, and performing limited venous ultrasound examinations to follow up on patient status post endovenous radiofrequency ablation procedures. Candidates may also be trained in sclerotherapy and Veinwave techniques for treatment of varicose veins and spider veins. Although not needed, interest in practice management, coding, marketing, and practice promotion would be nice. Excellent communication skills are required. My wife is my office manager, RN, BSN, Sclerotherapist and she performs Veinwave thermocoagulation procedures for patients with spider veins on the face and legs. She is becoming a regional expert in Veinwave treatment (veinwave.com). In addition to my wife, we have three employees - all of which are excellent (no staff turn-over in over 5 years). In addition, we have a part-time vascular ultrasound technologist (RVT). They all love their jobs, and we try to keep them happy. They tell me that I am a nice guy and a good boss (for whatever that is worth). Our office computer system runs on all Mac computers. We do not do Windows. Interested candidates will need know the Mac OS, or be willing to learn it (which is really easy). I use voice-recognition for my dictations - and I love it.Health benefits will be included. Right now, I take 1/4 call at Sonora Regional Medical Center. Some help with rounding on inpatients will be needed, as will be assisting on challenging acute surgical cases in the hospital (i.e.: Perforated Diverticulitis, Perforated ulcers, and Small Bowel Obstructions, Lap Choles etc.) while I am on call. The most common elective case that I do that require an assistant are lap choles, and laparoscopic, hand-assisted colectomy procedures. The Sonora Area is really quite beautiful. We are about 2 hour east of San Francisco. Sonora is located in Tuolumne County, California. Yosemite is the biggest attraction in our county. There is skiing available in the winter at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort and Bear Valley Ski Resort in Calavaras County. There is no limit to the Hiking, Mountain Biking, and Water Sports opportunities in the local area - with three lakes for boating/fishing (New Melones Lake, Don Pedro Lake, and Tulloch Lake). My wife and I really enjoy boating, and live at Lake Tulloch (which I would like to enjoy even more, if I was not working so much). Please look at my web sites to learn more about my practice - I am an amateur web designer and have designed these sites. Working with a Physician Assistant will be a new experience for me, so I hope to have mutual respect for one another and have our new PA have the autonomy that he/she desires with enough supervision that is needed to be safe and productive. Thanks, I look forward to see your CV in my inbox. I will try to respond to requests ASAP.Stephen J. Hopkins, M.D., F.A.C.S.
