Position Summary: Within a 24-hour framework, responsible for the delivery of therapy and treatment to the youth who reside at the McCann Residential Psychiatric Treatment Center. The clinician will provide health care services to assigned adolescents, and include the clients´ families in the treatment process. Provides a healthy and structured environment while engaging clients and families in a therapeutic alliance. Functions as an active member within a Multidisciplinary Clinical Team, and takes the lead in therapeutic management and service provision. Position Qualifications: Master´s Degree in a Human Services Field, and must be licensable within the state of Alaska within a two-year time frame. One year supervised experience providing various mental health services required. Some knowledge of therapeutic services provided in residential psychiatric facilities required. Knowledge and/or experience in substance abuse treatment preferred. Prefer background working with diverse cultures with an emphasis on Native American. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Education: Master´s Degree in Human Services Field. Must be willing to learn and implement Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training, First Aid & CPR, and participate in the 40 CEU yearly minimum requirements as defined by RPTC regulations and mandates. Minimum Experience: Must be at least 21 years of age according to State of Alaska Office of Children Services (OCS) mandate. Minimum of two years working with children and/or adolescents, and have field experience/practicum working with adolescents in multicultural mental health service delivery. License, Certification, Registration: Must be eligible for Alaska State Licensure within 2 years post hire date. Chemical Dependency Certification preferred. CPR, First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and a valid Alaska Driver´s License required. Certification in Moral Reconation Therapy preferred. Equipment/Tools: Must have basic computer knowledge, and standard office equipment usage skills. Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work in residential treatment environments. Ability to assess client´s mental health status; develop treatment plans; offer multiple psychotherapeutic service modalities; write reports on clients which accurately reflect client progress; and follow state, federal and corporate regulations and mandates. Ability to analysis and interpret client needs. Ability to communicate theories and plans to staff, clients and families. Ability to read medication administration records, and have basic understanding of medical terminology, diagnosis, and psychotropic medications. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of rapidly changing situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to appropriately respond to non-compliant, aggressive and violent client behaviors. Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities required, but must be capable of taking the lead in the coordination and implementation of activities related to specialty. Must be able to direct interventions in team format.
