Detailed Position Description Processes tissue samples by embedding, sectioning and staining slides for histological diagnosis: Operates within established guidelines/lab protocols; Produces consistently acceptable quality slides; Recognizes unusual results and informs supervisor in a timely manner; Performs routine instrument maintenance; Reads assigned/ required materials in a timely manner. Organizes tasks and performs efficiently to meet departmental productivity standards.Collaborates with supervisory staff to achieve departmental goals, improve service, quality, cost effectiveness and adherence to regulatory guidelines.Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers.Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers.Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values. Position Requirements One (1) year experience obtained through participation in an NAACLS or military approved training program in laboratory testing.Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic. Demonstrates a professional demeanor when responding to patients/customers. Basic computer skills. Education Requirements Bachelors degree in medical technology or in a biological or chemical science preferred License/Certification Requirements ASCP HT or equivalent.
