Detailed Position Description Organizes and conducts defined portions of the Speech-Language Pathology program to facilitate the habilitation or rehabilitation of people with speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing disabilities. Directs patient participation in selected activities to establish, enhance, and restore speech, language, cognitive-linguistic, psychosocial, and swallowing abilities or compensate for their loss. Essential duties include: Patient evaluation, treatment planning, discharge planning. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers. Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Displays commitment to the mission of the hospital and its values. Position Requirements Requires the evaluation and treatment skills necessary to provide Speech-Language Pathology services appropriate to the developmental/chronological age of patients on his/her caseload. Must have professional initiative, objectivity, and good time management skills. Must be physically, cognitively and perceptually able to provide patient treatment and able to assist in patient transfers and handle equipment. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal, as well as, exhibiting strong organizational skills and work ethic. Education Requirements Masters degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited graduate program.
