Demonstrates knowledge of specific anesthesia supplies, medication and equipment. Ensures adequate stock of supplies and proper function of equipment. Demonstrates safe methods in the handling and care of equipment including the cleaning and sterilizing of all anesthesia related equipment. Troubleshoots basic equipment and material problems. Promptly reports equipment malfunctions to MDA and Materials Coordinator or appropriate personnel. Assures that equipment is not used until repaired. Assists Materials Technician to maintain par level of supplies and accuracy of patient charges. Uses supplies judiciously and ensures supplies are readily available. Assists Labor and Delivery staff with anesthesia related issues. Using established priorities sets up for cases and organizes activities to meet anesthesia demands for the daily schedule and meets individual needs of patients in collaboration with Anesthesiologists. Assists anesthesia staff with special procedures: CVP insertion. Swan Ganz insertion, arterial line placement, IV placement, difficult intubations, spinal / epidural placement. Plans activities to assure assistance to MDA during anesthesia induction and emergence as requested. Identifies and anticipates unusual circumstances and uses critical thinking skills to respond accordingly. Prepares cell saver and processes cells. Inserts IV and arterial lines. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent. Experience: 2 years Certification: Applicants should have ASATT certification (Cer. A.T.) or be eligible to sit the ASATT cerification exam. The successful applicant will be required to acheive ASATT certification within 6 months of hire if not currently certified. Working Environment: Works in a well lit, heated and ventilated area. Position requires considerable mobility throughout the facilities. Potential exposure to routine, communicable diseases through regular contact with employees and the public at large.

Minimum Requirements: This position requires a High School diploma or GED, 24 months of related experience, and certification as an Anesthesia Technician. Additional Information: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs per week. Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm. Salary range: $10.97-$15.18 per hour. The Anesthesia Technician prepares anesthesia instruments, equipment, supplies, and drugs for use throughout the Department of Surgery.

Supports the Anesthesia Provider during insertion of arterial catheter Monitors, pulseoximeter and rapid infusion/transfusion systems. Assists in monitoringand ordering supplies for the department. Maintains an inventory in the main anesthesia workroom.Orders from the pharmacy and stocks all ´non scheduled drugs´. May order and stock ´non-scheduled drugs.´ Cleans and decontaminates equipment per Sterile Processing Department protocols.
