SMC Anesthesia - Surgery Responsibilities 1. Assists in the preparation of scheduled, emergent and urgent surgical procedures involving anesthesia care providers by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available and ready for use. Serves as a contact person between anesthesia staff, OR and PACU staff, as well as all departments where anesthesia is used. 2. Provides technical assistance for various anesthesia procedures, i.e. insertion of multiple lines, intubation, etc. Constructs and assists with placement of arterial lines and assists with placement of central lines. 3. Maintains the organization of multiple types of anesthesia supplies in multiple patient care areas and works with biomed and various vendors to ensure they are safe for patient use. Interacts with various vendors and assist in the trial and evaluation of new products while promoting standardization. 4. Works in collaboration with SPD and various vendors to ensure the availability of routine and specialty supplies for anesthesia. 5. Meet regularly with anesthesia group and chief / vice-chief of anesthesia, CRNAs, OR manager, Director and other department leaders to address anesthesia care issues. 6. Orients and assigns work as needed to the tech in training to meet the needs of the various departments and anesthesia care providers. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of six months of on the job training is required. Preferred education/experience: College level coursework in the field of science, previous work experience in a hospital setting or health care role, or pharmacy department experience. Must complete mandatory department orientation, network education, and anesthesia tech competencies. Skills Strong science (biology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacy) background with experience caring for patients in a critical care type unit or procedural area. Minimum Requirements: This position requires a High School diploma or GED, 24 months of related experience, and certification as an Anesthesia Technician. Additional Information: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs per week. Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm. Salary range: $10.97-$15.18 per hour.
