Radiology Program Maryland Radiology Technologist License Minimum of 1 year of experience SUMMARY: - At the direction of the clinical manager, and under the guidance of the performing doctor, independently performs all exams in the Cardiac Cath Lab and the Special Procedures Lab without supervision. Serves as a positive role model, while working in collaboration with all levels of departmental personnel. Required Education: - High school graduate and graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.Required License, Certification and/or Registration: - Current ARRT, Maryland State License, and advanced level certification in either Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), or Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) and Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI) or 2 years current interventional experience Required Experience: - One year of clinical experience in as an Interventional Radiology Technologist HJ

The Invasive Specialist:- Performs diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention for cardiovascular procedures. - Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures and protocols. - Assesses the patient�s physical condition and age specific needs. - Ensures that patient�s education of procedure performed, needs, safety and comfort are met while in his or her care.- Acquires patient�s clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented. - Verifies files and records for completeness and accuracy of the patient involved in studies. - Archives and amends demographic information to appropriate storage media. - Positions patient, equipment and associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation. - Assesses processed image media for technical quality and patient identification. Qualified candidates:- Must be a Cardiovascular Technician with an Associate�s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Radiologic Technology or possess a Rad Tech certification. - One year of experience in Cardiac Catheterization, Electrophysiology or Angiography Lab is required.- Certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) is required. - Must maintain 12 CEUs per year or 36 every three years. Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) must be renewed every three years. - Candidates must maintain a current BLS and ACLS certification. - PALS may be required, depending on unit specific needs.

The CVT performs the procedures at a technical level. He/she provides a safe patient care environment, maintains and operates the physiological monitoring/recording system for both the interventional cardiac and electrophysiology studies, assists physicians by functioning as scrub tech, monitor role or assistant circulator, achieves all digital images and documents all actions taken by the Cath Lab. He/she is responsible for being able to setup and operate all equipment within the department that may be required for a given procedure including but not limited to: Electro-Physiology studies, Ablation, Pacemakers and ICD implants. He/she is responsible for observing all health and safety standards as required. The Cardiovascular Tech is accountable to the CVIC SLM and Lead Technologist. Able to set up sterile field and procedure tables. Assist with prepping and transporting of patient on and off procedure tables. Assists in the maintenance of room stock. Inspects instruments while making procedure tables.Hours: 10 hrDays: Monday - Friday with on call coverageEducational Requirements:Associate degree in Biology Sciences. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, transport patients and equipment, gurneys, pull and transfer patient from bed to procedure table. Able to stand for prolonged periods of time wearing lead apron weighing 15-20 lbs., bend and stoop.
