The position is within The Finger Lakes Heart Institute providing counseling, information and instruction on nutrition and diet as it relates to Heart Disease for Cardiac Rehab patients, family members and care givers. This person also develops, coordinates and implements in-house and community educational programs as it relates to Heart Disease. The successful candidate must be a Registered Dietitian with a Bachelors Degree in food and nutrition, with a preference of specialized education and experience in the area of Cardiac Rehabilitation. Experience in nutritional support and counseling is preferred.

Completes admission nutrition assessments within 24 hours of admission on assigned patients, to determine initial caloric intake and nutrition goals.2. Works in cooperation with Clinical/Medical Directors to safely re-feed malnourished or unstable patients in a safe and consistent manor. 3. Meets with assigned patients to evaluate progress, set goals, assess problems, provide education and develop a therapeutic alliance. 4. Meets with patient families as needed for education and discharge planning.5. Provides direction to staff regarding problem solving around portion sizes, meal substitutions, and other nutritional concerns.6. Reassesses nutritional needs throughout treatment, and presents recommendations to treatment team at treatment team meetings.7. Facilitates nutrition and meal planning groups.8. Demonstrates the ability to organize and complete assignments.9. Demonstrates professional conduct, concern, respect and compassion toward all patients, families, co-workers and the public as a representative of Cedar Springs Austin.Education and/or Experience1. Licensed Registered Dietitian 2. Eating disorder experience preferred3. Minimum three months experience working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity.4.
