Full time position available. Duties: Incumbent delivers dialysis equipment to bedside. Cleans and sterilizes the dialysis equipment. Responsible for maintaining dialysis equipment and assures that it is in proper operating condition prior to use. Assembles dialyzers, test equipment for leaks, and priming the dialyzers, and makes connections in the dialysis circuit, if required. Responds to any equipment emergency during dialysis (i.e., dialyzer leakages, or clotting, tube leaks), makes appropriate adjustments in equipment, saline solution or heparin. Incumbent functions independently on regular tours of duty, which are not covered by supervisory staff and incumbent must assume the responsibility for providing complete hemodialysis support services. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: For GS-4 (entry level): 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience; OR 2 years of education above high school level, with courses related to the occupation.For GS-5: 1 year of specialized experience; OR 4 year course of study above high school level leading to a bachelor´s degree with courses related to the occupation.For GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the complexity level of the duties of the position at the GS-5 level. General Experience: (1) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant´s ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided familiarity with the subject matter of the processes of the broad subject area of the occupation, i.e., kidney dialysis technician procedures, operation and maintenance of hemodialysis equipment, etc. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, i.e., kidney dialysis technician procedures, operation and maintenance of hemodialysis equipment, etc. U.S. Citizenship is required.

JOB SUMMARY: As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, performs a variety of activities to support and assist in provision of direct patient care in a dialysis setting in accordance with established program policies, standards, procedures and compliance with local, Tribal, state and federal regulations MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Completion of a course of study leading to a high school diploma or equivalent 2. Graduation of an approved program as a Dialysis Patient Care Technician with certification; 1 year previous patient care experience in a dialysis center preferred 3. Current CPR and BLS certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire 4. Ability to read, write, speak, hear and understand English ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. As directed and supervised by healthcare professional, collects and records a variety of routine pre-dialysis patient data including, but not limited to: vital signs, weight, general condition and special problems 2. Prepares dialyzer and delivery system for use as prescribed 3. Monitors equipment to ensure proper operations; notifies appropriate healthcare professional of equipment problems 4. Makes safety checks on equipment; initiates and terminates hemodialysis treatment 5. Consults with Registered Nurse regarding patient care; executes nursing care plan as directed and supervised 6. Identifies and reports unusual findings or observations, clinical symptoms, behaviors and treatment reactions to appropriate healthcare professional 7. As supervised by healthcare professional, administers hemodialysis medications to patients in accordance with physician orders 8. Assists obtain lab work and tests as ordered by physician; assists prepare monthly lag tubes for patients 9. Maintains current all records of medication and related health care provided in accordance with all applicable regulations, licensing requirements and standards 10. Assists patient to and from dialysis station; may transports patient to and from other clinical areas for procedures 11. Monitors patients during treatment by taking vitals; notifies appropriate healthcare professional of potential problems 12. Performs visual inventory of stock items; re-orders standard items to provide for availability of supplies for optimum efficient unit operations 13. Performs a variety of activities to provide for the ongoing maintenance of the units environment 14. Participates in a variety of in-services and unit meetings to maintain understanding of care plan changes 15. Refers problems beyond standards of practice to Registered Nurse as appropriate 16. Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives 17.
