Responsible for administering policies and procedures according to established guidelines and is responsible for all issues related to personnel management including interviewing, recommending hires and disciplinary action. Serves as liaison for the MRI section of the Radiology Department, physicians, and other departments to accomplish patient care in a timely, professional, efficient and safe manner. Maintains approved concept of operation for maximum utilization of resources while delivering quality customer service. Identifies opportunities to improve patient safety and participates in projects and programs designed to reduce error and improve safety.Experience Requirements: MRI Technologist with minimum of three years experience as staff technologist, extensive experience in body imaging, previous management/supervisory experience preferred. Minimum of three years as staff technologists. Candidate must have extensive experience in body imaging. Liaison for the MRI department to include: radiologist, radiology manager, service, and patient scheduling. Graduate of a two year program in an AMA accredited school of Radiologic Technology. Registered from ARRT and licensed by the State of Massachusetts. Registered in radiology and MRI.

Responsibilities include:-Providing superior care to both patients and guests.-Providing accurate MRI films as ordered by the physicians.-Develop and maintain appropriate protocols in conjunction with the X-Ray Technicians.-Practice proper safety precautions in the magnet environment.-Review patient history and checklist prior to scan.-Keeping accurate scan information documented in the log book.-Attending training and ongoing education in regards to the MRI equipment.-Monitoring quality assurance tests and report findings.-Forwarding appropriate forms to the Billing and Reimbursement Department.-Communicate effectively with patients and staff.Requirements:Knowledge of MRI procedures and protocols, anatomy and physiology necessary to perform testing including body mechanics and patient movement and MRI equipment including safety hazards common to MRIs.Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices, communicate clearly, lift 50 pounds, and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients and families.Skills in positioning patients properly and identifying equipment problems to correct or notify supervisor.Candidate must be a graduate of ARRT approved program, have and maintain ARRT certification and be licensed RT within the State of Illinois. Three years of previous MRI orthopaedic experience is preferred. One year of AIRIS 11 experience preferred.
