Participates with the Health Care Team in delivering quality health care to patients in a manner that reflects Kaiser Permanente´s mission, vision and values. Provides support and assistance to the patient and Health Care Team to promote population based care, continuity of care, customer satisfaction, and self-care.Works under the clinical supervision of the physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner, and under the general direction of the designated supervisor.Essential Functions:- Provide adult, adolescent and childhood immunizations as per regional immunization policies- Administration of Medications to both adults and pediatric patients (oral, inject-able, topical, inhalation [nebulizer] per regional policies- Assists clinician with sterile and non-sterile set up for minor procedures and trauma conditions such as laceration repairs, joint injections, biopsies, pap smears, and minor surgeries such as (skin tags, lumps, bumps, mole removal). Performs simple wound care, dressing application and changes. Under direction of clinician provide suture and staple removal- Knowledge of basic rooming of pediatric patients which includes , but not limited to obtaining: height, weight, vision and hearing screens, and head circumference, as per regional protocols- Knowledge of ortho supplies and soft splint application, crutch fitting and walking instructions- Specimen Collection: Obtain naso-pharyngeal, throat, basic wound cultures on adults and peds; Urine collection and application of U-Bags on infants and toddlers.- Perform ear lavages on pediatric and adults as (after assessment by RN or as directed by clinician)- Point of Care Testing: Lab screening performed by the MA - Rapid Strep, Urine and Glucose screening (LOU on file with NWHR SEIU)- ADHD Scoring: Scoring of ADHD surveys in preparation of ADHD visit with clinician- CPR/AED certification or complete within 90 days of hire- EKG: Perform basic EKGs (LOU on file with NWHR SEIU)- Foot Screening including knowledge DM and performing LOPS (loss of protective sensation)Secondary Functions:- Prior to scheduled encounters, prepares room and gathers patient information from electronic and paper records including prevention status, previous diagnostics and treatments, medications and allergies and past medical history.- Monitors clinician schedule and availability and notifies waiting members of any time delays and suggests alternatives that will meet member needs.Basic Qualifications:- 1 year experience in pediatrics and/or family practice with in the last 5 years- need to have knowledge and experience in both- Educational Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant or Health Care Assistant program or equivalent training.- Demonstrated clinical skills (vital signs, history and physical, etc.) in a team environment.- Demonstrated interpersonal skills.- Demonstrated communication (written and oral) skills.- Demonstrated literacy (keyboarding at 35 wpm, data entry experience using a multiform screen).Preferred Qualifications:- Three months work experience with computers, and/or work experience using Windows 95 or Windows 3.1.- Current National Medical Assistant Certification- Experience in ambulatory care, such as a urgent care- Experience working in family practice with a focus on both adults and peds
