Position Summary Overview: Provide leadership and support in the education, advocacy and programmatic activities that promote and enhance family-centered care throughout Texas Children´s. Coordinate ways in which patients and families can contribute to the mission, values, safety, quality and delivery of care. Responsibilities: Work with departments to educate, promote and support family-centered care principles; provide leadership and advocacy for the development of practices, programs and policies that support the assimilation of family-centered care principles throughout the organization; assess, develop and coordinate family-centered care programs and projects that enhance services; serve as a resource for physicians, staff and families; review patient satisfaction surveys and patient complaints to identify trends in family experiences, and make recommendations for improvement. Identify patients and families interested in participating on hospital initiatives, maintain active database of those willing to share their stories and engage patients and parents for involvement on hospital initiatives; provide support and serve as a resource for patients and parents participating on hospital projects and programs. Provide assistance with the effective development and implementation of disease/unit-specific patient and family advisory groups; facilitate recruitment and orientation of new patient and family members; ensure advisory group goals and objectives are in alignment with those of the designated unit/department. Support and serve as a liaison to the Family Advisory Board and the Children´s Advisory Board. Provide family perspective on hospital committees, projects and programs. Knowledge and Skills: Sound knowledge of family-centered care principals and family experiences within the pediatric healthcare system. The ability to demonstrate independent work initiative; experience speaking before diverse audiences; strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills; control under stressful situations; provide excellent customer service; maintain patient confidentiality; handle multiple tasks at one time; and possess basic computer skills. Education and Experience: Bachelor´s degree and five (5) years experience in a professional setting.
