Located at 1493 Cambridge Street in Cambridge, MA, between Harvard Square and Inman Square, the Cambridge campus offers a wide range of health care services and is a primary teaching site for Harvard Medical School. Services include 24-hour emergency care, primary care for adults and children, OB/GYN care, expert orthopedic, surgery and specialty services, testing services, and mental health programs. Women can also benefit from our Cambridge Womens Health Center, Cambridge Breast Center, maternity suite, and natural childbirth center. Over the past year, Cambridge Health Alliance has invested in the health of Cambridge patients by adding: New Digital mammography and Breast MRI equipment, New 64-slice CT scanner, Expanded oncology services, and Expanded sports medicine services. The mission of Cambridge Health Alliance is to improve the health of its communities. With great nurses, more than 100 doctors who teach at Harvard Medical School, and a wide range of services, the Cambridge campus is able to do this every day. In this role, qualified candidates will be responsible for the following:-Assisting OB/GYN physicians in the delivery of care on the Labor & Delivery unit, Maternity Triage, Inpatient unit(s), Emergency Room, ambulatory sites, and Operating Room, as needed. -Examining and assessing all patients as needed, within scope of practice. -Conducting daily rounds and coordinating management of all inpatients. -Coordinating discharges as needed. -Triaging calls to the maternity unit for OB/GYN physicians.-Evaluating and assessing inpatient consults, under physician supervision. -Performing preoperative patient history and physicals for surgical procedures, including c-section patients. -First assists in C-sections or other operative procedures.-Supervising, teaching and orienting physician assistants and medical students. -Proficiency on relevant electronic medical record applications (GE, Epic, Meditech); providing complete & appropriate clinical documentation. Note that the position is 32 hours per week and includes three shifts (day/evening); Some rotation & weekend work required.Qualified candidates must possess the following:- Be a NCCPA board-eligible or board-certified Physician Assistant- Licensed in MA with DEA/MA controlled certification. - OB/GYN experience preferred, however, will consider strong other experience instead. - Multi-lingual skills a plus but not required.- Must be able to physically negotiate ambulatory site, possess strength and endurance to perform physically for long periods of time, (up to 8 hours), i.e., walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, kneeling, standing, reaching, squatting.- Must have the physical dexterity and psychomotor skills to respond adequately and appropriately to routine and emergent patient care needs.
