Phoenix Children´s Hospital is the only specialty children´s hospital in Arizona and it is poised to become one of the foremost pediatric hospitals in the nation. The hospital is home to the states largest group of pediatric specialists and sub-specialists. In addition, the hospital continues to evolve its clinical practices and is working with leading local and national research partners to uncover new breakthroughs in pediatric medicine. Currently a 345 bed facility, new construction plans were unveiled that include the building of two new patient bed towers and expansion in bed capacity and other key programs and services over the course of the next several years. Primary Purpose: Performs a variety of technical functions and duties to provide for availability of supplies and equipment and maintains sterile field for cardiovascular operating procedures. Procedures include but are not limited to: repair and replacement of heart valves, impantation of ventricular assist devices, off pump cardiac surgery, treatment of peripheral vascular disease and aneurysms, and repair of aortic aneurysms. Work Environment: Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled surgical setting within the hospital subject to frequent long periods of standing, walking and sitting; frequent physical demands including, but not limited to: stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, climbing, lifting and pushing objects of varying weights up to and including 50 pounds. Activities performed require ability to assist with patient transport to and from bed, wheelchair and/or gurney and positioning. Regularly works in an environment subject to high stress levels, exposure to blood borne pathogens, and frequently changing priorities. Ability to clearly communicate in English, read, write, see and hear to perform essential duties. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: 1. Completion of a Surgical Technician program or equivalent combination of education and experience2. One (1) year Scrub Technician experience in an inpatient surgery setting.3. Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications:1.Experience with pediatric patient populations.
