The Manager of Samaritan Medical Equipment is a Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner who manages the operations of the Samaritan Medical Equipment department and who is an active member of the hospital management team. This individual assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the department, is responsible for providing direction to department personnel, and interfaces effectively with members of the medical staff to ensure optimal patient care and to evaluate this care on an ongoing basis. Current registration by National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC-RTT) required. Must have an Oregon Respiratory Care license, or be eligible to apply. Two (2) years experience in clinical role, and an additional two (2) years experience in a management role required. Healthcare provider level BLS required, or must be able to obtain. The primary objective in this role will be to ensure the efficient and effective daily work flow in the delivery of quality patient exams and care. Additionally, the Director will coordinate and implement programs, policies and procedures and assume the responsibility for ensuring that all programs meet hospital accreditation standards and regulatory compliance. This position will also manage the delivery of patient care and ensure care is provided according to established standards of care and practice. Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Respiratory or related discipline. Masters Degree strongly preferred or willing to complete. Must possess current certifications, license and registration for the State of Michigan and current registry by the NBRC. A minimum of 5 years of current clinical experience in Respiratory Therapy with progressive management and leadership experience required. Demonstrated talent in problem solving; planning and setting priorities, and addressing complex issues for to achieve department expectations. Demonstrated leadership experience and knowledge in finance, business operations and quality outcomes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Must be able to address customer/staff issues utilizing basic concepts of relationships centered care.

Under general supervision, assists in supervising and coordinating the day-to-day activities and operations of the respiratory therapy department; supervises and coordinates care of patients requiring care from respiratory therapy staff in inpatient units and some outpatient areas; ensures adherence to organizational and department policies and procedures, and accepted protocols and procedures. Collaborates with patients, families, peers, physicians and other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care. Provides direct care to patients as required. Reports to Respiratory Therapy Manager. B.S. in Respiratory Care strongly preferred, Baccalaureate degree preferred. A.S. Respiratory Therapists with an identified plan to complete a Baccalaureate degree in a reasonable timeframe will be considered. Three years of respiratory therapy experience required. Recent acute care pediatric experience preferred. Management, supervisory, and/or leadership experience preferred. Current State of Connecticut Respiratory Therapist licensure required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR in adult, child & infant is required within 6 months from date of hire; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 6 months from date of hire; and NRP certification required within 6 months from date of hire.

Reporting to the Department Director this position will provide clinical management to the staff and will also be responsible for educating and coordinating ongoing instruction to the department staff. The manager will be responsible for oversight of the indicated areas to ensure diagnostic services are provided to the inpatient and outpatient population.. This position will work primarily during the daytime shift and will also be a visible presence to the evening and night shift staff consistently each month. Knowledge in EEG/EMG/Interoperative monitoring and/or Sleep Studies preferred. Five + years of clinical experience in acute care setting of similar size and scope. Three years of management/supervisory experience in Respiratory Care. Able to work off-shift hours consistently each month (approx. six shifts/month.) Ability to address administrative and/or clinical issues through demonstrated use of independent judgment. Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with the wide range of individuals/departments/task forces/teams one must work with to achieve positive outcomes.

Benedictine Hospital currently has an opening for a self-motivated RRT to act as the Clinical Manager for our four-bed Sleep Center.
