I accidentally sent my résumé with the cover letter addressed to another employer. How serious is this? Sincerely, Sabotaged Self? Dear SS: Put yourself in the recruiter's position: a résumé comes in to the email box of Jane Doe at Hospital X, but the letter is addressed to John Smith at Hospital Y. What might Jane do? • Delete the email as
spam.
• Delete the email as
something not intended for her – especially
if the email has one of the privacy disclaimer
lines that reads something like: "This email, together
with any attachments, is for the exclusive and
confidential use of the addressee …." –
which Jane isn't.
• Question the seriousness
of your interest in her hospital.
• Think, "Hmmm …
SS can't even get the name of our hospital right.
