Our department has recently gone through some changes and our work has changed significantly. It's taking me a long time to get up to speed – in fact, I'm still not. It's been three months, and I feel that my boss has given up on me. What do I do to convince her that I'm capable of doing what she wants me to do? Are you even interested in the new duties/role? Finally, how do you know that you're capable of performing the new work, particularly since you haven't done it in the three months? If I were your supervisor, I would also give up on you after three months. So you have three choices: • Buckle down and acquire
the new skills.
• If your work was good
before, talk to your supervisor and see if she
can change your job description or transfer you
to another area (but don't count on it).
• If you're really unhappy,
