My husband is interviewing for a position in Vancouver, and I am attempting to find out if there is reciprocity for an RN license between the USA and Canada. Sincerely, J Dear J: While obtaining a work visa is relatively painless due to the NAFTA visas, unfortunately, there is no reciprocity with Canadian/US licenses: You will have to write the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination (CRNE), just as Canadian RNs have to write the NCLEX to work in the United States. However, if you meet the basic requirements, you will be able to practice on a temporary RN license while working towards completing the registration process, which will include passing the CRNE. For more information, contact the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia. Discuss This ArticleHave something you'd like to say? Tell us what you think!
