Due to popular demand, here are more examples of what not to do in cover letters and basic queries!

First, as before, these are all real, having been collected over several years. Second, these items are from native English speakers. Third, in order to give you the real effect, we haven't corrected capitalization, spelling, punctuation, or grammar. Finally, we have cut out portions of sentences, but never to create false errors, just to shorten material.

Things Not to Say in Cover Letters & Basic Queries
Applicant's Actual Written Statement What the Employer Might Think
I was trying to inqire about some positions in [location] and was trying to get some information and a list of what what was entailed in a one year contract with your orginization. …I was looking in the diagnostic and Radiology department for employement. I am soryy for the lack of clairty. At least s/he apologized for the lack of clarity …sort of.
Please send all and any information in working in the hospitals. I have 25+years of experience in the medical field. Examples are 23 years in hospital work, 9years as a ward clerk. You did what and when?
I also have experience in medical trancription and front window receptionist in doctors office's. Not very much experience, I'd guess.
I am [name], I red your adds on the Iternet. … What are the requirement needed for a Social Worker? I look forward to your immidiate response. With this writing, this person couldn't be an MSW or a BSW!
Would like to know if there is any opening in this line of area Are you applying for a mathematician job?
MY NAME IS [NAME] I AM A SONOGRAPHER AND HAS RECENTLY PASSED ARDMS,AM INTERESTED IN GETTING JOB,COILD U TELL ME ABOUT THE POSITIONS AVAILABEL AND THEIR LOCATIONS THNKS There's so much wrong with this, I don't know where to begin.
