License Losers: In Legal Jeopardy!

Sometimes, when you look at the information published by licensing bodies about disciplinary actions, you think: At least they didn't do this on the job!

• "[Name] … is duly licensed in the state of [State] to practice as a pharmacist …. On or about [Date] Respondent was driving his personal automobile on Interstate [number] in [Location] when another driver did something that angered him. In response, Respondent pulled his vehicle up to the left side of the other car, and shot at the driver's side window of the other car with a pellet gun. The other driver's window broke and the other driver was struck in the face with glass shards. …

The other driver was a [Location] Police Department Detective. The Detective notified authorities and followed the Respondent. Respondent was ultimately apprehended.…

Respondent was taken into custody and searched. Police found two 8 ¼ inch knives concealed in his boots, a pellet gun and an expandable police baton in the passenger compartment, and a .40 caliber Beretta Pistol in the trunk.…

Respondent told police that he was angry when the car put on its brakes in front of him. He also stated that he has anger management problems." (I never would have guessed!)

• "On or about [Date], respondent was convicted of False Representation to Obtain Public Assistance, a felony … On or about [Date], respondent was found guilty of battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting officer with violence …"
• "[License] was revoked, based on findings that she pleaded guilty to 40 misdemeanor crimes of moral turpitude in the courts of [State]; committed fraud and deceit in practice of nursing or in securing her admission to the practice; and was guilty of immoral conduct." (40? When did this person have time to work?)
• "[Name] … had his license to practice chiropractic revoked based upon his conviction of 36 felonies." (Well, 36 that they've found out about, anyway.)

I have a suggestion that I think would help fight serious crime. Signs. There are lots of signs for minor infractions: No Smoking, Stay Off the Grass, Keep Out, and they seem to work fairly well. I think we should also have signs for major crimes: Murder Strictly Prohibited, NO Raping People, Thank You for Not Kidnapping Anyone. …
